Tree Removal & Replacement
Although tree removal is a last resort, there are circumstances when it is necessary. An arborist can help decide whether or not a tree should be removed. Professionally trained arborists have the skills and equipment to safely and efficiently remove trees.
A permit is required for the removal of trees within the public rights-of-way. When trees are removed from public land, including the rights-of-way, a replacement tree is planted. The new tree does not necessarily have to be in the same location as the tree removed.
Public tree removal without a permit is a violation of the city ordinance and can result in a misdemeanor penalty in addition to a fine in the amount of the appraised tree value.
