Child care License Transition to State: Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Who is responsible for issuing child care licenses as of July 1, 2025?
Yes, the City will continue to oversee zoning, land uses, building, and fire safety regulations. The state will require a sign-off for local regulations (such as Building, Fire, and Planning and Zoning codes) prior to the issuance of your state license.
Where will I go to request a fire inspection?
HB243a allows for inspection by a state Fire Marshal or local Fire Department. Our Fire Department can be reached at 208-769-2245 to schedule an inspection. There may be an inspection fee associated with this inspection, as there is no city license connected to the service.
Yes. You can apply online at www.cdaid.org/license or contact 208.769.2229.
What do I do if I have concerns about the new laws?
Contact your local legislator to share your concerns.
