I-90 westbound on-ramp from Northwest Boulevard closes Sept 14 in CDA!
This closure will be in place 24/7 starting Monday and will last for approximately two weeks as crews work on drainage systems and final paving.
Drivers intending to travel west on I-90 from CDA should access the interstate from the interchanges at US-95, 4th Street, or 15th Street, or Sherman Avenue.
While US-95 is the closest alternate route, drivers should strongly consider using the 4th Street or 15th Street on-ramps when possible. The I-90/US-95 interchange already experiences significant congestion, and concentrating additional traffic there could result in longer delays. Using the more distant on-ramps will spread traffic across the corridor and help reduce congestion as much as possible..
During this period the Northwest Boulevard westbound off-ramp and one westbound I-90 lane between US-95 and Northwest Boulevard will also remain closed. Keeping this lane closed gives drivers entering I-90 from US-95 additional space to safely merge and has been shown to significantly decrease the number of crashes on the freeway.
Drivers who have other options for reaching their destinations should consider avoiding using the interstate westbound between CDA and Post Falls altogether during the closure. Drivers who have no reasonable alternate routes should allow themselves plenty of extra time, expect congestion, and use the Idaho 511 system for current conditions.
