Joseph Scholten, a former deputy with the Bonner County Sheriff’s Office, was sworn in as a Coeur d’Alene officer on Wednesday. In Bonner County, Scholten was most recently assigned to the North Idaho Violent Crimes Task Force as a detective.

Scholten previously worked as a patrol deputy, where he served as a field training officer, dive team member, SWAT member and a baton instructor. He started his law enforcement career as a reserve officer for the Airway Heights Police Department in June 2005 until January 2007 when he was hired as a full-time police officer for the Bonners Ferry Police Department in January 2007.
