Leaf pickup on schedule

As of Monday afternoon, city street crews had filled 345 dump truck loads of leaves weighing in at 691 tons—that’s nearly 1.4 million pounds! Pickup has been completed Sherman Avenue to Harrison Avenue east of Government Way and in the area south of Forest Cemetery.

Tuesday, crews will be working in the area of Harrison north to Interstate 90 and 15th Street west to Northwest Boulevard. The northern neighborhoods of Sunshine meadows, Legacy Place and Heartland are also expected to be covered. “Things are running along smoothly and we’re on schedule,” said Terry Leigh, field supervisor with the street department.
