Water Project to Close 8th Street at Mullan, August 22nd

On Monday, August 22nd, the Water Department will begin installing a new water main on 8th Street from Mullan Avenue to Pine Avenue. During the project, there will be traffic and parking impacts.

In phase 1, 8th Street along the east side of City Hall will be closed. No on-street parking in this area will be allowed. Also, the 8th Street access to the lower City Hall parking lot will be temporarily relocated to the south.

This project will eliminate several dead-end water mains, will enhance water flow in the area, and will provide an alternate water source to the Tubbs Hill booster station. The first phase encompasses Mullan Avenue to just south of Bancroft Avenue.

The second phase will run south from Bancroft Avenue to Pine Avenue. In phase 2, road closure and parking restrictions will be limited to 8th street south of Bancroft Avenue and north of Young Avenue.

Phase 1 should be completed and the street repaved by the end of the day on Friday, August 26th. Phase 2 will immediately follow the completion of phase 1. Please contact the Water Department at 769-2210 with any questions.
