Notice of Temporary Trail Closures Starting Monday, May 25, for Tubbs Hill Forest Fuel Reduction Project

Kootenai County FireSmart Program is partnering with the City of Coeur d’Alene to reduce wildfire risk on Tubbs Hill.

Crews are completing Phase 2 of a forest fuel reduction project on the south side of Tubbs Hill. Work includes:

  • Cutting and piling ground and ladder fuels
  • Removing hazardous dead trees (snags)
  • Treating approximately 13 acres

Phase 1, completed in 2025, treated 58 acres on the north side of Tubbs Hill.

  • Forest health & wildlife habitat


The Kootenai County FireSmart Program provides wildfire education and financial assistance through grants from the Idaho Department of Lands in cooperation with the U.S. Forest Service.
