About 30 students from Special Needs Recreation learned how the city operates during a meet a greet Tuesday morning with elected officials and department heads at the Coeur d'Alene Public Library. Special Needs Recreation offers various recreation programs for special needs children who have problems participating in other programs because of a learning disability or physical handicap. Programs include a summer day camp, swimming, bowling, overnight campouts, field trips, and special events with specially trained staff. There are about 60 individuals who participate in Special Needs Recreation with assistance from 80 volunteers. City leaders address Special Needs Recreation students. From left, Sgt.
