The City Council has unanimously decided to allow non-profit faith-based organizations located within the Kootenai County to offer invocations at City Council meetings. There are 24 meetings per year and interested organizations will be assigned dates randomly. It is the program’s intent to have one representative per organization provide an invocation in a calendar year. Mayor McEvers stated that “the City appreciates the history of the invocation and fully supports opening up the opportunity to all faiths.” Registration to provide an invocation will be open for Council Meetings held from January 6, 2026, through December 15, 2026. Registrations will be accepted through December 23, 2025, at the following link: https://www.cdaid.org/invocation. All interested individuals/organizations must register through this site so they can be assigned a date.
