  • Our mission is to end homelessness in Coeur d'Alene through a community response. Our vision is to incorporate proven tactics, overlaid with local knowledge, people, and resources.
  • Estimated 600 homeless between out on the street to shelters and transitional housing centers (based on Point in time count and St. Vincent de Paul numbers)
  • $6.5 million in services already being provided in community (from 40 agencies/businesses - data spreadsheet available on request)
  • Approximately 1,300 volunteers assisted in providing services to the homeless
  • Aggregate statistics are based on Kootenai County not just Coeur d'Alene, but Coeur d'Alene is coordinating and leading this effort
  • Vision to create a coordinated system, possibly a one stop shop for homeless services
  • Housing First is a model that is promoted by the Federal Government and one that will be a part of the plan, customized for the local realities in Coeur d'Alene
  • 10-year plan will be a living document, implementation and periodic reviews are vital to success
  • Intend to work with and include citizens that are homeless and/or have been homeless to find gaps in the system
  • We have reviewed plans from Boise, Portland, Tri-cities (WA), Port Angeles, Spokane, California, and Minnesota
  • Inspried by the clear need in our community, the burgeoning efforts around the country, and the energy, enthusiasm, and vision of United States Interagency Council on Homelessness Executive Director Philip Mangano
