Firefighter Healthy Recipe Cookbooks for Kids

(click to download snack book)

The cook book was created by twelve firefighters from the Coeur d' Alene Fire Department.  The idea for a health snack cookbook for kids and families came from the Let's Move Program that the City adopted.  The Coeur d’Alene Fire Department teamed up with the University of Idaho Extension's Eat Smart Idaho Program and the District 271 nutrition program to make this project possible.  Firefighters will visit every class and every student in the elementary schools in District 271 will be receiving a snack cook book.

The fire department also created a calendar that is for sale with the same information in them as the snack books. The calendars are $10.00 and are available at the Fire Department headquarters at 300 Foster Ave.  All proceeds from the calendars will go toward purchasing playground equipment such as basketballs, soccer balls, jump ropes etc. for the elementary schools in District 271.  The firefighters want to encourage healthy eating and promote physical activity on the playground.

The Coeur d’Alene Fire Department headquarters office hours are from 8-5, Monday through Friday. There are a limited number of these cook books and calendars available
