Ron Edinger was first elected to the City Council in 1968 and served until 1974. He was then elected Mayor and served a four-year term. After a 2-year hiatus, Edinger ran for Council again in 1980, and has been on the Coeur d'Alene City Council since that time. He has served the city longer than any other elected official, and for the past 27 years, Edinger has been the highest vote-getter on the council.

Councilman Edinger also serves on the General Services Committee and Chairs the Enough is Enough Committee. He also served on the Northwest Boulevard Planning group, and served on the committee to select the architect for the city's new police facility, now the model for other law enforcement facilities across the state of Idaho. He was also a member of the committee that chose the public art for the Police Station, and a member of the committee that selected the Walker Macy group to create a Downtown Public Places Master Plan. Edinger also serves on the Tubbs Hill Foundation and the Parks Foundation.

Earlier, Edinger was chosen by the Jaycees as "Outstanding Young Man in America." He was also inducted into the Umpire's Hall of Fame for the Amateur Softball Association of America. Ron and his wife Nancy will be married 53 years in June 2010. They have three daughters, ten grandchildren (one who is deceased), and three great-grandsons. Edinger is retired.
