The City of Coeur d’Alene has hired local engineer and City resident Chris Bosley as the new City Engineer/Lead Project Manager.

The City Engineer plays a crucial role in nearly every aspect of local development as well as all transportation planning and projects. The position is part of the newly combined Streets & Engineering Department, managed by Director Tim Martin.

Bosley has nearly two decades of experience in the field of engineering, with work done in geotechnical and transportation specialties. Most recently employed by Welch-Comer Engineers, Inc., Bosley is the chairperson of the City’s Pedestrian/Bicycle Committee, which has been instrumental in helping the community achieve Bronze Level status as a bicycle friendly community from the League of American Bicyclists. Bosley and the committee have also worked with City staff toward achieving Silver Level status and hope to hear a decision on that soon.

During the City’s competitive recruitment process to hire a new City Engineer, Welch-Comer and another local firm assisted with doing Qualified License Professional Engineer review of local development projects, which is a requirement under state law. Bosley was part of Welch-Comer’s team helping the City during that process.

Bosley has already worked on numerous City projects as part of Welch-Comer, having helped plan and be part of the project management team for the recent Four Corners Master Plan improvements at Memorial Field, worked on the Coeur d’Alene Lake Drive Master Plan, as well as the City’s Education Corridor.

“Chris has already been instrumental in so many ways to the quality of life in Coeur d’Alene and the surrounding area, and we’re excited to have him be a direct part of the team,” said Deputy City Administrator Sam Taylor.

Bosley will begin work on November 21. He will earn $75,753 annually.
