CityPoll: Tell us what you think!

The city of Coeur d’Alene strives to provide responsive, consistent and convenient services to the citizens of our community. In order to best achieve this commitment, we want to hear from you. Each month, a CityPoll question will be posed to learn how the community feels about a particular issue. Responses will be carefully reviewed by city staff and changes will be used in leadership strategic planning as guidance to assure we are offering the best possible services to our citizens. If you have questions or suggestions for future CityPoll topics please send an email to: kerickson@cdaid.org.

Q: Have you checked out the new osprey cameras perched atop the three 70-foot poles at McEuen Park?

Osprey camera facts:

  • The cameras can be accessed from the city’s website, cdaid.org. For a live view of the nesting birds, click on camera icon on the right side of the page.
  • Though designed for nesting osprey, Canada Geese make the perches their home until they are run off, typically in early April, by the osprey.
  • No tax dollars were spent on the cameras. They were made possible by donations from community activists in memory of longtime community leaders.
  • The poles were initially erected to light the American Legion ball field at McEuen Park. Because the birds established themselves on the poles in the mid-1980s, the nests were not removed as part of the redevelopment project.
