Cd’A Sewer upgrades may disrupt traffic

As part of Coeur d’Alene’s ongoing public sanitary sewer infrastructure rehabilitation program, the city’s wastewater utility will soon be undertaking numerous projects to improve the reliability and functionality of approximately 3.5 miles of public sewer mains throughout the city.

Beginning Monday, contractors will be cleaning and lining deteriorated sewer mains and installing seamless fiberglass pipe within an existing pipe by accessing manholes. Presently, this project is anticipated to be completed by August 31.

The contractor will be providing a written notice (door hanger) to all affected residents and businesses 48 hours and 24 hours prior to commencing construction activity. After being notified, the city is asking all affected residents and businesses to reduce their daytime sewage discharge as much as possible.

At the end of that working day, normal sewage discharge will be permitted. Since this project will involve construction equipment accessing manholes within public right-of-ways, traffic detour routes may influence daily commutes. Further, some residents and businesses may be requested to have vehicles park at nearby locations. The city apologizes in advance for this inconvenience.
