Helpful Information: Information about the incident (date, location and type) and/or persons involved (name, dates of birth) will assist us in providing the record you seek.

Business Office Hours: 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday - Friday.

Report Fees: Accident, citation, arrest and crime reports are available without charge, unless the file is excessively long. The standard fee is no charge for the first 100 pages and $.10 per page thereafter. A $10 media fee may apply if audio / video is requested. Charges may include legal review and processing fees.

Records Requests: Requests are handled in as timely a manner as possible with recognition that Idaho Code 74-103 provides a public agency shall grant or deny a persons request to examine or copy public records within three (3) working days and if such request is granted, provide the public records to the interested party no later than ten (10) working days following the request.

Public Disclosure of Reports

Right to Examine Public Records: The Coeur d'Alene Police Department supports Idaho State Code Section 74-102 which states:

Every person has a right to examine and take a copy of any public record of this state and there is a presumption that all public records in Idaho are open at all reasonable times for inspection except as otherwise expressly provided by statute.

Public Disclosure of Crime & Arrest Reports: Every effort will be made to disclose as much information as possible including but not limited to:

1. The time, date, location, nature and description of a reported crime, accident or incident.
2. The name, sex, age and address of a person arrested except as otherwise provided by law.
3. The date, time and location of the incident and the arrest and the crime charged.

Exemptions from Public Disclosure: Idaho Code 74-124 provides that notwithstanding any statute or rule of the court to the contrary, a law enforcement agency's investigatory records compiled for law enforcement purposes are exempt from disclosure to the extent their purpose would:

1. Interfere with enforcement proceedings.
2. Deprive a person of a right to a fair trial or an impartial adjudication.
3. Constitute an unwarranted invasion of personal privacy.
4. Disclose the identity of a confidential source.
5. Disclose investigative techniques and procedures.
6. Endanger the life or safety of law enforcement personnel.

Idaho Code 74-106 also exempts disclosure of all personnel records of current or former public officials except for their service or employment history, classification, pay grade/step, longevity, gross salary, salary history, status, workplace and employing agency.
