Bugs, Pheromones and Trees: What to Know? What to Expect?

Information on Douglas Fir Beetle and Upcoming Grant Work

The City of Coeur d’Alene’s (City) Parks and Recreation Department, Urban Forestry Division, will be hosting a public information meeting on Wednesday, February 2, 2022, at 5:30 p.m. in the Library Community Room, located at 702 E. Front Avenue, Coeur d’Alene.  Anyone who is interested in learning about Douglas fir beetles and the City’s upcoming grant work to help reduce the threat from this pest is invited to attend.

 The event speakers will be Nick Goodwin, City of Coeur d’Alene Urban Forester, Erika Eidson, Idaho Department of Lands Forest Health Specialist, and Chelsea Jahant-Miller, USDA Forest Service Entomologist.  The speakers will cover the following topics: how to identify Douglas fir trees on your property, how to identify a Douglas fir beetle infestation, how to treat a Douglas fir beetle infestation, and what the City is doing to protect public Douglas fir trees.
