Calling his new position with the city the pinnacle of his career, new Coeur d’Alene city administrator Jim Hammond was sworn into his new position Monday before dozens of city employees at the community room of the library. Hammond told employees he will take a hands-on approach in his role. “I love getting out of the office and visiting all the sites. I want to learn what you all do so I can be supportive of you,” he said. Hammond served 16 years on the Post Falls City Council, including 6 years as mayor from 1990-96. He was Post Falls city administrator from 1996 to 2006. He served as a state senator from 2006 to 2012. Most recently, Hammond was executive director of the Panhandle Area Council, an economic development organization for the five northern Idaho counties.
City Clerk Renata McLeod swears in Jim Hammond on Monday morning.
