| ...is a guide to some of the special trees
within Coeur d'Alene’s city limits --- those that have historic significance, are
unusual to our area, or are the biggest of their species. Nominations
came from interested citizens, tree care workers and the city's street tree inventory.
All trees included here can be viewed from public areas. They have been reviewed and
measured by members of Coeur d'Alene’s Urban Forestry Committee. "Big" trees refers to those that are the largest of their species, determined by a formula that includes the trunk circumference, height and crown spread. Although we did our best to locate the "biggest," we acknowledge that there may be larger trees yet to be discovered. There may also be more trees with historic value or that are a "unusual" species within the city. We therefore welcome additional nominations and hope to publish future editions of this guide. With this guide, we hope you will enjoy viewing and learning more about Coeur d'Alene's historic, unusual, and big trees. Click on the tree name or number to learn more about each tree.
