English Walnut

Juglans regia

511 Dollar Street

The name "English" walnut is perhaps deceptive, because this tree is actually a native of the Middle East. The fruit of the English walnut, being the commercial walnut, has a thinner shell and a milder taste than the U.S. native black walnut. This tree is said to be very productive. English walnut wood is also very valuable.

English walnut trees can attain heights of 60 feet. Although this one is only 45 feet in height, it is the largest of its kind in Coeur d'Alene.
