Evergreen woody vine with branches rooting as they grow. Mix peat moss into soil when planting; feed with high nitrogen fertilizer in spring and again in fall. The more water you give it, the better it will hold up, but once established English ivy is fairly drought tolerant. When growth grows higher than you want, mow with mower or hedge shears in spring.
