A native evergreen shrub related to the barberries. It is easily grown and looks good all year. Creeps by underground stems. Grows to 3 feet tall with a spreading habit. Dull bluish green leaves have 3-7 spine-toothed leaflets, turn bronzy in winter. Yellow flowers in spring, followed by clusters of blue berries.
