The donation comes as the community gets ready for the K27 Forever Benefit Concert at McEuen Park on August 28. The donation was received by Mayor Steve Widmyer and the Panhandle Parks Foundation, the lead non-profit collecting donations for the memorial.

“We are so grateful to the Avista Foundation for its support,” Mayor Widmyer said. “We encourage other businesses and organizations to consider a donation. With the help of us all, we can make this important project a reality.”

Avista Foundation Executive Director Kristine Meyer said it is a pleasure to support the work of the PPF. The memorial will honor Sgt. Greg Moore, whose call letters were “K27” and other fallen officers around the nation. Sgt. Moore was shot early in the morning on May 5, 2015 while on patrol. He left behind a wife and two children.

The mayor and a group of community volunteers, including the Panhandle Parks Foundation, are leading the charge for a $850,000, privately fundraised K27 Memorial to be placed in the city’s McEuen Park, just south of the 4th Street park bridge.

The K27 Forever Benefit Concert from 4 to 8:30 p.m. August 28 is sponsored by the City of Coeur d’Alene, the Panhandle Parks Foundation and Davis Enterprises. This family friendly event is hosted by Tyler Davis who runs Live After 5, a downtown concert series on Sherman Avenue.  Band “The Power” and other musical talent will be on hand, as will food, fun and games and a short appreciation program. Children are free and adult tickets are $10. Proceeds support the memorial fundraising. Tickets can be purchases via [email protected] or call 208-446-4813 and Tyler Davis 208-338-0600, [email protected].
