Windy weather forecast for Saturday, along with extremely dry conditions, has put local firefighters on high alert as they brace for the worst over the weekend.

“This is extremely critical fire weather,” Coeur d’Alene Deputy Fire Chief Glenn Lauper said Friday. The Coeur d’Alene Fire Department is urging people to use extreme caution outdoors when conducting any activity that could cause a fire.

Free pamphlets explaining fire danger and how to protect your home and property are now available at Coeur d’Alene City Hall, the Public Library, each of the city’s three fire stations and local grocery stores.
