East Sherman master planning efforts under way

The city of Coeur d’Alene is moving forward with formulating a master plan to revitalize East Sherman Avenue. But before any work is done, city planners want to hear from stakeholders and the community.

The city and CDA 2030 have scheduled two town hall meetings in June to kick off a visioning and master planning effort for the East Sherman Avenue corridor and we want you to be part of the conversation!  We are sending out postcards and asking businesses to hang posters with information about the town hall meetings in their storefront windows, and to help us in spreading the word through social media, email and word of mouth.

Mark your calendars and encourage your neighbors and friends to join you at one of the town hall meetings.  The meeting on June 3 will take place at the City Library in the Community Room from 5-7pm and the meeting on June 18 will take place at the Harding Family Center from 5-7pm.  The conversation is already starting on Facebook, NextDoor and the CDAPress website. You can also get updates from the city’s Facebook page and website.

We want the businesses, property owners, and residents along East Sherman, other stakeholder groups and the greater CDA community to join the conversation.  Attend one of the town hall meetings and tell us what you like, what you don’t like, and what you envision as the future of the East Sherman corridor.  The information we gather will help us begin a master planning effort for revitalization of the city’s eastern gateway.

Community planning director Hilary Anderson has already started the public information process. Hilary discussed the East Sherman master planning effort during presentations at Bike CDA’s “Bike Talks” meeting on April 4 and the North Idaho Building Contractors Association’s Government Affairs meeting on May 19. Additionally, Hilary recently taped an announcement on the East Sherman planning effort that will air soon on CDA-TV channel 19.

For more information contact the city’s planning department at 769-2240 or [email protected] or CDA 2030 at 415-0112 or [email protected].   Don’t miss out on this opportunity to provideyour valuable input.
