The city of Coeur d’Alene Arts Commission is seeking artists to participate in its “ArtCurrents” program.    Interested artists may submit applications for placement of their sculptures around the city’s downtown for a period of one year. The displayed works will also be offered for sale, with the city receiving a 25 percent commission.

The artist or artist team will be paid a stipend of $1,000 after receipt of the artwork. Selected artwork will be displayed along Sherman Avenue, Lakeside Avenue, and at City Park.

Public art creates and enhances neighborhood and community identity. It enriches the visual landscape and character of the city. It turns ordinary spaces into community landmarks and promotes community dialogue and, most importantly, it’s accessible to everyone.

Information packets are available at City Hall, 710 E. Mullan Avenue, or online at www.cdaid.org.  Artist proposals are due by 5 p.m., July 10. Installation of the artwork will begin the week of August 31, 2015.

Artists who are interested in participating are encouraged to contact Sean Holm, Arts Commission Liaison, at 676-7401.
